Coronavirus (COVID-19) – updates from the Headteacher
I would like to thank you all for continuing to contribute to your son’s/daughter’s education whilst we are required to remain at home. I am not sure about you but whilst my daughters are doing their work I would say they are using the full 24 hours in the day. I would have to admit that being woken at the patter of heavy feet in the early hours has allowed me to use the full range of my English vocabulary. I just get my own back first thing in the morning!
Unfortunately, Covid-19 does not worry whether you’re rich or poor nor does it now care about age or whether you have an underlying health condition. My message to you is to stay safe, stay healthy, look after each other, keep in touch using social media and phones. Whilst it is factually correct to state the curve is flattening, we are talking about the total number of deaths and a daily rate of mortality which is coming down; these are people, individuals with loved ones who we will never see again. This is the reality so if you have lost a close friend or relative during these times we will be thinking of you and I ask you to revert back to previous Blogs that contained lists of groups that could be contacted in a time of need.
It is clear that elements in the media are demanding that schools return to a sense of normality as quickly as possible and we are in advanced stages of planning and preparing for students returning, whether it be fully or partially, be it this term or in the Autumn.
More staff are using TEAMS, ZOOM or YOUTUBE during their lessons, but please understand that not all the staff feel comfortable in using these platforms and I would ask that students and parents do not put pressure on them to do so.
If we do return to school this side of the summer holidays it is our intention that the focus will be on teaching for the entire time that we would be in school for. Any calendared events that would normally take place will now not happen – they will either be cancelled or postponed to a later date.
