Breakdown of the school lessons per subject for each year group on a fortnightly cycle (ppc - periods per cycle)
Year 7
All students follow a similar curriculum with a choice of a Modern Foreign Language being the difference in an individual’s personal timetable.
Art (2 ppc), Drama (1 ppc), English (5 ppc), Games/PE (3 ppc), Geography (2 ppc), History (2 ppc), Mathematics (3 ppc), Music (1 ppc), Religious Studies (1 ppc), Science (3 ppc), Computing (1 ppc)
Design & Technology (2 ppc).
Modern Foreign Language (4 ppc): Mandarin, French or Spanish.
Total: 30 ppc
Year 8
All students follow a similar curriculum apart from a further choice of a second Modern Foreign Language being the difference in an individual’s personal timetable.
Art (1 ppc), Computing (1 ppc), Design & Technology (2 ppc), Drama (1 ppc), Games (4 ppc),
Geography (2 ppc), History (2 ppc), Music (1 ppc), Religious Studies (1 ppc).
Modern Foreign Languages: First Language from Year 7 (2 ppc)
Second Language (3 ppc): A further choice from Mandarin, French, German, Italian, Latin or Spanish.
Setting by Ability in English (4 ppc), Mathematics (3 ppc), Science (3 ppc).
Total: 30 ppc
Year 9
All students follow a similar curriculum, apart from their two Modern Foreign Languages studied in Year 8 being the difference in an individual’s personal timetable.
Art (2 pppc), Drama (1 ppc), Games (4 ppc), Geography (2 ppc), History (2 ppc), Music (1 ppc), Religious Studies (1 ppc), Design & Technology (2 ppc), Computing (1 ppc).
Modern Foreign Languages (2 ppc): Each MFL is taught on 2 ppc.
Setting by Ability in English (4 ppc), Mathematics (3 ppc), Science (3 ppc)
Total: 30 ppc
Year 10
Students follow a core curriculum at GCSE and have the option to choose subjects that personalise their curriculum.
The core curriculum includes English (5 ppc) set by ability, Mathematics (5 ppc) set by ability and Games (2 ppc).
Science is offered as the Separate Sciences of Biology, Chemistry and Physics and is taught on 2 periods per subject per cycle and is set by ability.
Four Option Choices, each on 3 ppc are selected from: Art, Chinese, Computing, Drama, DT, Economics, Electronics, Engineering, French, Geography, Geology, German, Government & Politics, History, Italian, Latin, Mandarin, Music, PE, Philosophy, Photography, Psychology, RE, Sociology, Spanish and Statistics.
Total : 30 ppc
Year 11
Students continue to follow a core curriculum and their chosen options at GCSE.
The core curriculum includes English (5 ppc) set by ability, Mathematics (4 ppc) set by ability, Games (2 ppc), Directed Study (1 ppc).
Separate Sciences of Biology, Chemistry and Physics continue to be taught on a 2 periods per subject per cycle and is set by ability.
Four Option Choices continued from Year 10 each taught on 3 ppc continue from the previous year.
Total : 30 ppw
Year 12 & 13
Students opt for a minimum of Three A-Levels plus an enrichment such as the EPQ, Games, Mentoring and Life Skills.
Subject Choices are made from a list of over 30 subjects detailed in the Sixth Form Prospectus.
Entry requirements for each course are also detailed there too.
Each Advanced course is taught up to 7 periods per week with the remainder of the time designated to directed study and enrichment options.
