We Have Award-Winning Wellbeing and Pastoral Care

Excellence
Community
Respect

What sets Beths apart is the caring, inclusive and supportive environment we create for our students. This includes our award-winning wellbeing and outstanding pastoral care system and dedicated Individual Educational Needs (IEN) Department.

We work hard to ensure Beths is a safe and respectful community where students listen carefully to each other and consider other views. As a result, the National Children’s Bureau and Optimus Education recognised our work with the  Wellbeing Award for Schools. We support students to embody inclusivity and build positive relations with everyone around them. By demonstrating excellent behaviour and attitudes, our students genuinely enjoy their studies knowing expert care is on hand as they face the challenges of young adult life in the modern world, building their skills to be resilient and to overcome hurdles.

Our IEN runs schemes such as Form Tutors Wellbeing Champions and regular wellbeing check-ins for both students and staff. As part of our support provision, Peer Mentors are assigned to each tutor group and are easily approachable for any students who may prefer to speak to another student. However, if a student does have a problem or query that the Peer Mentor is unable to help with, each student is a member of a form group, and their Form Tutor is the first point of call. Their Head of Year and Deputy Head will also be on hand to support as needed.

We take any concerns with the utmost seriousness and all members of staff report any safeguarding concerns to our Safeguarding Lead (Mr Jones), the Deputy Safeguarding Lead (Mrs Searby) or the Headteacher (Mr Blyghton). Staff members can also refer their concerns to Children’s Social Care directly and this should be done if, at any point, there is a risk of immediate serious harm to a child.
