The School Development Fund is a voluntary giving scheme, the proceeds of which are invested back into our school community so we can continue to go above and beyond, providing our students with the best possible learning environment and opportunities.

While government funding covers the core running of the school, we are always looking at innovative ways to proactively invest in our young people. This includes the wider educational experiences, facilities and enrichment activities that make Beths such a vibrant and ambitious place to learn and give our students the most ambitious educational offer.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, in the past we have been able to enhance facilities and improve resources. The new School Development Fund has been created to formalise this process and provide an easy and simple way for parents, carers, alumni and friends to contribute, if they wish, towards projects that directly benefit every student.

We have exciting ambitions to upgrade our library, ICT classrooms, sports facilities and student areas. We are also looking at additional enrichment activities and cultural experiences, all of which can be supported and expedited by the new Fund. Importantly, our Student Council will help shape what we invest in, meaning student voice sits alongside the expertise of our Development Office, Governing Body, staff and the Parents Association in identifying suitable projects.

As such, we are offering our families the chance to contribute to the Fund. Contributions can be made in any amount, whether monthly, quarterly, or as a one-off donation. A suggested contribution of £10 per child per month provides a meaningful boost to our resources, but we are grateful for all forms of support.

Many employers also offer Matched Giving Schemes*, where they will match the donations made by employees to charitable causes. This can significantly increase the impact of any contribution. A list of companies that offer such schemes is included in the download below. If your employer is not listed, it may still be worth checking with your HR department.

We fully appreciate that this type of contribution may not be for every family, and there are many other valuable ways to contribute to school life if you would like to. This includes offering work experience placements and careers talks, volunteering time, or joining our PA. Every act of support strengthens the opportunities we can provide students and supports us in our mission to deliver a platinum standard of education so all our young people can achieve their potential.

If you would like to discuss the Development Fund further, or how you can get involved in school life, please contact me at mrmcbeth@beths.bexley.sch.uk.

We will keep you updated on the Fund and how your donations are making a difference to your child’s education. Thank you, as always, for your continued support to help us make Beths a place where every student thrives.

Yours sincerely,

Mr R McBeth,
